This project was created to raise awareness about endangered wildlife in Canada through the design of illustrated postage stamps. Featuring a fox and a polar bear, the concept highlights both the beauty of these animals and the environmental challenges they face, using a small but impactful format.
VISION
The goal was to combine visual storytelling with purpose—creating stamps that feel collectible and visually engaging while subtly encouraging viewers to think about conservation. I wanted the designs to evoke emotion and connection, reflecting my personal appreciation and soft spot for animals.
PROCESS
I began by researching endangered Canadian species and gathering visual references. From there, I developed simplified, geometric illustrations and selected color palettes that reflect each animal’s natural environment. The compositions were designed to fit the constraints of a postage stamp while still feeling detailed and expressive.
OUTCOME
The final result is a set of two stylized stamps that balance minimalism with strong visual impact. Each stamp captures the essence of the animal and its habitat, using color, shape, and composition to communicate both beauty and vulnerability.
TAKEAWAYS
This project reinforced the idea that design can be a powerful tool for awareness and storytelling, even at a small scale. It also helped me refine my illustration style and taught me how to communicate meaningful messages through simple, thoughtful visuals.
